POSITION
DESCRIPTION – California State
Preschool Children’s Centers:

 

Under
the direction of the Direct Service Coordinator and the supervision of the Site
Supervisor and Teacher, the Child Development Associate Teacher will assist
staff in the implementation of a high quality, comprehensive and developmentally
appropriate child care and development program meeting the individual needs of
young children and their families.  The
Associate Teacher will supervise and interact with children as positive role
models, promoting learning experiences and assist other staff.  They will implement curriculum and scheduled
activities and provide input regarding activity content.  Additionally, they will interact with parents
and participate in child assessment through observation recording.

 

 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:  [May include, but
not limited to the following.]

 

1.      Assist in the
implementation of elements of a high quality early child hood education program
to meet the developmental needs of individual children. 

2.      Interact with
children, facilitate learning and support children in their overall development

3.      Recognize, assess,
and contribute to the assessment of children’s individual developmental levels;
record anecdotal observations.

4.      Interact with
parents sharing information and supporting their involvement and needs.

5.      Promote and
maintain a clean, safe environment for children including cleaning.

6.      Assume the
responsibility of an absent teacher and prepare in advance as needed.

7.      Embrace and
participate in supplementary support service programs.

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Knowledge of/Ability
to:

and practices of child development and early childhood education.

of the Teacher during absences.

Experience and Training:

 

1.      Child Development
Associate Credential; or

2.      Child Development
Associate Teacher permit; or

3.      Qualify for a
Child Development Associate Teacher Permit by meeting criteria

 

WORK
ENVIRONMENT

Primarily works in indoor school or playground
environment with furniture and equipment built to accommodate 3 year old and 4
year old preschool children.

 

PHYSICAL
REQUIREMENTS:
