POSITION DESCRIPTION:

 

Under direct supervision of assigned
management employee(s), this classification performs a variety of routine
clerical duties such as typing and filing a variety of documents. Work may be assigned and monitored by secretarial
personnel.

 

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS:

 

Positions at this level perform routine
clerical duties to provide support to management, certificated and other
clerical staff.

 

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES: (May include, but is not limited to the following):

 

1.                  
Accurately type from draft routine forms,
correspondence and short reports from rough drafts

2.                  
Process a variety of documents as directed;
may include copying, laminating, binding and       mailing

3.                  
Assist in compiling information and data for
statistical and/or financial reports

4.                  
Perform office filing duties

5.                  
Receive, store and inventory supplies and
materials

6.                  
Proofread accurately type and/or draft
correspondence, reports, charts and tables

7.                  
Answer telephone and refer inquiries to
appropriate personnel

8.                  
Perform related duties as assigned to like
positions

9.                  
Operate computer system for data entry and
retrieval

10.              
Perform basic recordkeeping tasks

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE OF/ABILITY TO:

 

1.                  
Modern office methods, procedures and computer
equipment, including computer hardware       and software necessary to the efficient
operation of office/program

2.                  
Basic recordkeeping procedures

3.                  
English usage, spelling, grammar and
punctuation

4.                  
Type accurately at a minimum of 40 words per
minute with a maximum of 3 errors

5.                  
Understand and carry out oral and written
instructions

6.                  
Establish and maintain effective working
relationships with those contacted in the course of work

7.                  
Perform physical requirements of the job with
reasonable accommodation

8.                  
Work with minimal supervision

 

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

 

High School diploma or equivalent and
experience that indicate possession of the knowledge and skills necessary to
perform the duties listed above.  PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a
computer keyboard.

Seeing to read a variety of materials.

Hearing and speaking to exchange information.

Sitting for extended periods of time.

Lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling objects
up to 25 pounds.

Bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching to
shelve and retrieve materials.

Reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally.
