NYLF Advanced Medicine & Health Care NYLF Advanced Medicine & Health Care is an opportunity for high school students seriously considering a career in medicine to practice skills and competencies necessary for this challenging academic and professional path. Students are immersed into the medical profession, engaging in workshops, conducting a clinical encounter at the JHU simulation center, visiting the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, working as a team to perform a simulated fracture reduction, and much more.NYLF Advanced Medicine & Health Care exposes students to a range of educational pathways and careers in medicine – providing them with a critical advantage as they make important decisions about their future in college, medical school, and beyond! This is a great opportunity to positively impact the lives of future medical student and network with other highly motivated and likeminded individuals that share your passion for health care and education.Our staff are provided housing in the dormitories at The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. As this is a residential program, all staff are expected to be on call 24 hours a day while the program is in session; however, scheduled working hours are typically from 7:00 AM through 11:00 PM daily. Contract dates vary, but this program runs for three 10-day sessions from early June through late July. AdvisorAdvisors work with a team of 15-20 other advisors and are responsible for working directly with a group of 15-17 students and are expected to perform the following duties:  Directly facilitating 8-10 hours of curriculum daily Managing the classroom Briefing and debriefing lectures and activities  Acting as a mentor and guide Responding to and addressing student concerns Conducting regular attendance checks to ensure safety and accountability Setting individual and group expectations and enforcing the Student Code of Conduct to ensure that these expectations are met Being on-call 24 hours per day while the program is in session and actively engaging with students during scheduled working hours (typically 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM daily) Requirements Knowledge and experience within the field of Health Care and Medicine Bachelor’s level education; Master’s or higher is preferred Previous experience working with high school students Experience facilitating curriculum and managing a classroom Strong logistical and organization skills Ability to exercise good judgment and solve problems Maturity and professionalism Excellent customer service skills Strong leadership skills  Ability to set expectations for and enforce appropriate student behavior*Continuing Education Credits are available for most of our Summer positions
