Host Bio: I am a System Development Engineer at Amazon in the Continuous Infrastructure Automation group. This is a software development role, focusing on building new software to manage the networking equipment at Amazon physical sites (eg. fulfillment centers, and corporate offices). After working as a soils engineer and finding his passion in soil mechanics and materials, Tom went back to Oregon State University where he obtained a Master of Science Degree in Geotechnical/Civil Engineering. Tom completed civil and environmental projects acting in roles as the project designer and project manager. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Engineers without Borders, American Public Works Association, and the Construction Managers Association of America. After graduating from OSU with a BS in Chemical Engineering, I completed an internship with Hewlett-Packard prior to joining BMS. I have since worked on several different teams working on cell therapy and have a diverse understanding of many different efforts being conducted by the company. My most recent role in non-viral delivery has challenged me to investigate new technologies that have not yet been implemented into the cell therapy space. Furthermore, my hybrid role consists of designing and executing experiments, analyzing and presenting data, and developing recommendations for future assets to process development teams according to that data.

I am also a board member on the Mid Coast Watersheds Council as well as part of an organization called the Indigenous Gardens Network which is an intergovernmental group between the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians and the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde where we are working with partners in southern Oregon to restore plant communities that are traditionally important to our peoples as well as strengthening the relationship between our people and the lands of our ancestors which were systematically stolen through bad faith agreements and un-ratified treaties. I also work in the summers as a GISS on fires for the BIA.

Throughout the day, we will clean enclosures, prepare diets, feed the birds, work with the birds and keep daily records. Educational tours and presentations are not daily and are scheduled as people contact us, so things can change with even just 24 hours notice. We will be outdoors pretty much the whole day - rain or shine!

Through her years in CWS she has participated in a series of multi-disciplinary projects to support and enrich the Tualatin River watershed management and CWS enhancement and restoration projects. Debora is the current chair of the groundwater hydrology committee for EWRI. Before workign for CWS, Debora earned a PhD in Civil Engineering from Oregon State University and spent three years in consulting.

Host Bio: Dan Tonnes is the Washington and Oregon Aquaculture Coordinator for the West Coast Region. Dan has over 20 years of federal experience. Before becoming an Aquaculture Coordinator, he served as a Recovery Coordinator for rockfish listed under the Endangered Species Act, working on recovery planning, critical habitat designation, research, and habitat restoration initiatives. He has an extensive background in the federal ESA regulatory program, including Section 7 and 10 activities. Prior to joining NOAA, he operated fishing boats in Puget Sound and Alaska and passenger ferries and oil spill response vessels in Washington. He received a B.S in Environmental Planning from Seattle Pacific University and a Master of Marine Affairs degree from the University of Washington. Dan is a Kinship Conservation Fellow.

(OPRD) as a Park Ranger at Detroit Lake State Park. I have worked for OPRD for over four years. I started working for OPRD on the Oregon Coast at Sunset Bay Management Unit (SBMU), at Shore Acres State Park, where I was the Lead Park Ranger helping manage, and guide park maintenance and operations for the seven-acre Botanical Garden at Shore Acres. I have worked as a Park Ranger for over twenty years, from the Oregon Coast, to the Rogue River Basin, to the Willamette and Umpqua Valleys, and into the Cascade Mountains.

United States Geological Survey

Host Bio: I am working on a conservation problem that is at the nexus of climate change, invasive species, and evolutionarily unique species. My research centers on the use of genetic tools to measure population connectivity of mosquitoes, in preparation for a novel application of "Insect incompatible technique" using mosquitoes that have been transinfected with Wolbachia strains isolated from Aedes albopictus. I work collaboratively with a large team, and also generate/analyze genetic data, write papers, etc. I started my undergraduate at OSU but completed my BS at Humboldt State University in Wildlife Management, went on to get a M.S. in Biology at University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, and then returned to OSU, first working for USGS (Sue Haig's laboratory on OSU main campus), then went to HMSC where I worked with Michael Banks for over a decade, and then started/completed my PhD in Michael Banks laboratory at HMSC. I am a huge fan of OSU!

He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Engineers without Borders, American Public Works Association, and the Construction Managers Association of America. His areas of interest include sustainable design, water resources, slope stability, and materials. Tom is an active sailor, canoeist, runner, bicyclist, and outdoorsman. In 2004, he cycled across the US in the achievement of a lifelong dream. He is an eternal optimist with a strong commitment to environmental education and sustainable practices.
