Focus2 Career Exploration Tool

Need help figuring out what careers might a good fit for you? Oregon State students have access to Focus 2, a free online career assessment tool that asks questions about your interests, values, and personality, and then provides personalized results with information about possible careers.

Using Focus2

1.

Log in with your OSU email.

Use your ONID email credentials to log in when prompted.

2.

Take your Focus2 assessments.

Focus2 consists of four different  assessments: work interests, values, personality and leisure preferences.

Take just one or take all four. (It typically takes less than 30 minutes to complete all four).

3.

Review your results.

The Focus2 system can combine your answers from the different assessments you complete and match you with real career options. Career data comes from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and includes specific job tasks, qualifications, salary, job outlook and more.

Keep in mind that Focus 2 is not exhaustive of all the job titles out there. Use your results as a starting point to look for themes in industries and job responsibilities that might appeal to you.

Once you have your result, if you want to explore further you can follow up with your career advisor to discuss job possibilities.

Focus2 for Faculty & Staff

All faculty who are teaching a class that includes concepts of career development are welcome to assign use of Focus2 as part of their coursework.

Note: Beginning in summer 2025, Focus2 Career Self-assessments (see below) are being assigned in the Transitions course, so students who begin at OSU in 2025 or later will complete these assessments at least once during their time at OSU. Assessment results can change as students learn more about their academic and career needs, so retaking the assessment while at OSU can provide valuable guidance to students. Students could also be asked to submit a previous result from Focus2 and reflect on what has changed since they last used the software.

All OSU faculty and staff have access to log in to Focus2, explore the assessments, and familiarize themselves with the resources available.
