I manage a small team of mechanical engineers, and we are responsible for the design of automated packaging equipment. We work closely with a group of controls engineers and technicians who design the electrical layouts and write the PLC code for the same.

A full day would include an office and manufacturing facility tour, meetings with the mechanical and controls engineering teams, and, if desired, resume review and interview preparation. The student would join us for lunch and spend one to two hours with a mechanical or controls engineer, or both, to gain insight into a typical day in the role.
